LOVE 4 THE CHILDREN

The last meeting with children from Vileyka is over. Almost all our friends from the orphanage are somewhere having fun in camps, taking the sun and revitalizing. We miss them already and hope they remember our talks and discussions.
On the last day we decided to play a quiz to refresh what we have learnt during the whole year. Children looked at the pictures and tried to guess what a biblical story they depict. We’ve learnt a lot of biblical stories taken primary from The Old Testament. This quiz was interesting to children but some stories were difficult to guess and we helped children by giving hints. We talked a lot and even didn’t have time to complete the quiz! At the end children got candies and biscuits. We were staying there and couldn’t move for a long time as children were hugging us, trying to tell at least a word before let us go. How difficult it is to say good bye till September after such warm visits! We hope that this last meeting will be in children’s minds till our next visit. Even now children write to us in FB, asking when we come again. At such moments you understand your work is not in vain because in children’s heart there is already love and you became a part of this little family in Vileyka. How much I want these children to open their hearts to God to become HIS big family!
Summer starts together with the end of the academic year. It means that it’s time to make plans for the next academic year. Next year we want to finish the started – to make a camp for children who don’t go to any camps or travels abroad because they are 15-17 years old already, or have bad behavior. Such children need this camp so much! We need to give them a chance to have a rest outside the orphanage and to visit a Christian summer camp. We still have some worries about this camp, such as getting the license to make a camp abroad and also the financial problem. We ask everybody to pray for the good cause. Praise God that He gives us such an amazing opportunity to serve in Vileyka’s orphanage and not only to tell children about Jesus, but also to share His love with them, hug them and be with them through foul and fair.
Another academic year is almost over and we can see the difference made in children from the 2nd and 3d forms. They became wiser and more patient. We are happy to see when they act not based on their benefits, but meet somebody half-way and help each other.
Children like listening to the stories about Jesus’ life, when He helped people, treated them and made wonders.
In our groups every lesson we learn verses from the Bible for children not to fear when they are alone, but to know that they always have God in them. They know that they have the Helper to come to and everybody is precious in His eyes.
That’s wonderful, but God changes not only children’s hearts but mine, too. He teaches me to trust Him and learn His Word more and more to answer all the difficult children’s questions.

Our service in Vileyka is going on. We have many plans for children there and I hope God will help us to make them come true. But first things first.

We still learn the Old Testament. We have a plan to dedicate this year to learning the Old Testament, and next year we will learn the New Testament. I can’t but say that children know the biblical stories of Samson, Saul, David and Solomon as well as the children from our Sunday school. When we repeat the learnt stories they participate actively in discussions, answer all the questions and draw the right conclusions. I am glad our work is not vain and God’s Word is sowed. Children are attached to us already and wait for us every Friday. They are worried when someone from our team hasn’t come and send regards to this person.

I want to share with you our plans for this summer. We want to make a camp for children in June. We have an agreement with the administration already. The only thing we have to do is to find the place for the camp and money. That’s why I ask you to pray for it, for this financial problem, for the team, programme and the place as the people we’ve already arranged, denied us. We are worried about it as the administration is waiting for this camp and we don’t want to get in wrong as they can forbid us to come. Please don’t forget to pray for us. Hello to our page readers! We want to wish you a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! May God bless you in this year and give health and willing to serve Him more and more.
Together with our team we work in Vileyka’s orphanage and learn the Old Testament. I understand how important it is as children almost don’t know the Bible and God and we want to teach them in a simple way. We like doing it as we see that children have an interest to know God. I am sure that He will work in their hearts.
We have learnt the stories about Joseph and Moses. Children liked Joseph, his character and his fidelity to God. Children wanted to be like him having such traits of character as kindness, wisdom, patience in the situation when he became the second person after the pharaoh and especially when he forgave his brothers. The story about Moses wasn’t so interesting for children as that of the plague of Egypt. We told about Pasch as children didn’t know what it is.
On Christmas Eve we had the Advent Season and told the story of Christ’s birth. We solidified children’s knowledge by the trip to Minsk to church Bethlehem. Children had a wonderful opportunity to hear about Jesus from Christmas direction. During the performance we all sang “O, Holy Night”, heard the preach, had an amazing dinner and of course got presents that were collected by the members of the church. It was such a good time. Everybody liked that evening and we got hope that Jesus could be born in their hearts too. That would be the best gift for them.
That is how we spent the last month of this year. We hope that the next year will be fruitful for children and us. We hope we will be more helpful to these children.

Praise God for such a possibility to go to Vileyka’s orphanage and spend time with children there. Praise God for every child there, for their smiles. These children need love, communication and care. We want those who are deprived of parents to know that they have Our Heavenly Father Who loves and cares for them. We want them to know that they have God to entrust their grief and problems. We want them to remember that they have God to come to with all the questions they have.
We work with junior children from the 2nd and 3d forms. Everybody has its own talent to develop. On our classes children find out a lot of new things about God. They usually have many questions about how God answers the prayers. We tell them biblical stories and on these examples show that God is always true and permanent. He cares for us and helps. What children like most of all is to sing songs, play games and draw. We learn biblical verses by heart and believe that God will keep them in their hearts.
