Conference “You are not alone”

Оn march 2011 in the capital of the republic of Belarus in Minsk in the building of the church “the Gospel” was held the First Christian conference “You are not alone”, dedicated to the problem of ministry to orphans and adoption in Belarus. According to statistics, in Belarus more than 32 thousand of children, left without parental care. In order to help to orphans on the part of Christians to be effective the aim of the conference was to bring together the leaders of the churches in the work with orphans and provide them with the necessary resources for service.
In the conference took part more than 110 Christian leaders and ministers from 15 cities of Belarus. Among the conference participants were adoptive parents, foster parents, ministers, who are engaged in work with orphans in children’s homes or after graduation adaptation of graduates of children’s homes. In the conference took part and those who reflects on the possible start to the ministry of orphans.
The conference was organized by the Union of ECB of Belarus, the National network of Christian organizations in work with children from risk groups and The Commission for Children at Risk. Among the conference speakers and leading master-classes have been the pastor of the church “Bethlehem “Timofeev Yakov (Belarus), pastor of the church “the Gospel” and the adoptive parent Lazuta Dmitry (Belarus), the founder and director of Together International Ministry, TV-together and the adopter shall Demidovich Sergey (Ukraine), as well as representatives of the Council of the Republican public association “Do good”, children’s home city. Slutsk, the participants of the minister to the orphans in Belarus and the members of the National network of Christian organizations in work with children from risk groups.
To exchange experience and obtain practical skills of the participants of the conference were offered master-classes, which raised the issues of adoption and foster families, discussed the causes and problems of the ministry of orphans in children’s homes, considered the principles on the effective cooperation.
During the conference participants were presented the biblical approach to the problem of abandonment and God’s call to care for the orphans.
The conference has become a spiritual support and encouragement to continue the service of orphans. Personal examples of ministers inspired the participants and led to practical steps in the work with orphans. The participants got an overview of who is engaged in the service of the orphans in Belarus, exchanged contact information, experience of the ministry and resources. 
The conference identified the main needs of Christian ministers and relevant topics for further development of the services: the support of the ministry on the part of leaders and pastors of churches, preaching on the subject of adoption; the maintenance of cooperation among the churches, foundations, organizations and children’s homes; informing in the field of adoption and other forms of the device of children in the family; the continued exchange of experience and resources in the sphere of ministry to orphans in children’s homes.
The conference brought together ministers for children-orphans and helped each participant feel that he is not alone, “prompted to continue service to each orphan realized that she “no one”.
