Good afternoon, dear brothers and sisters! I’m happy to talk about what happened in June today! The Smilovichi
orphanage has recently occupied a special place in my life. It seems to me that these children are becoming so close to us that not only they,
but also we expect to meet them! Arseny and Artem are two brothers. They are very smart and cheerful. When we first met them, they spoke little, and if they did, it was somehow incomprehensible and funny. But these guys so often try to climb into my arms: “Dima, take me in your arms and circle!” It can be seen that they lack a man’s hand, as well as attention. “Can you hug me?” – such questions always evoke positive emotions! Recently, their father began to visit them. Mom is deprived of her rights, but sometimes she visits the children at the orphanage. But attention and affection, the boys still really do not have enough.
This month we have reiterated on a simple level who God is and how He helps. I asked what to do when it is bad or scary. The guys shouted in eager rivalry: “Ask God for protection”! I see that the seed sown begins to set the direction, and now, in order not to happen, they will ask God for help. Together with them, we pray that God will send them to the family. Diana is also at the shelter. Recently, Katya talked to her one-on-one. The fact is that Diana is 16 years old and she looks to the future with apprehension. Dad left mom and Diana, and mom met a boyfriend and practically did not deal with Diana, so she was taken to an orphanage. A lot of pain fills Diana’s heart. “Diana, what is the most difficult thing in your life?” – I asked while talking to her. “The most difficult thing is to forgive my dad and mother”! Katya taught Diana
to keep a diary in which she can pour out all her pain. The diary is like a prayer, when you recite everything that has accumulated inside you, you can ask to show God where He was in this situation. During our next meeting, Katya with Diana, wrote a letter to God. In this letter was written the most precious and intimate. “Do you think, Katya, God sees everything that we have written?” Katya said yes with confidence! It is so important to have in life a person who will show a way out in a difficult transitional age. Diana is going to study this year.
She dreams of becoming a programmer. She really likes mathematics. One of our acquaintances, when he found out that she liked mathematics, decided to donate textbooks for admission to this university. Thank God that He opens the hearts of people to help and give what will help with admission.! Diana will be admitted on July 20th. Let’s
pray for her that God will help her to enter the educational institution she dreams of!
Also Liza, Tima, Vanya, Irka, Matvey are now in the summer camp. They were sent from the shelter for recovery. During a conversation with the administration, we were told that after the camp, their dad should take them home. Now he has corrected everything that threatened the lives of the children in his house and now their house is safe. All these guys missed not only their dad, but also their favorite pets – cats and dogs!
Dear friends, thank you very much for praying with us and serving these children throughout the school year! Your work before God is not in vain! Blessings!

of the graduates will immediately start working and usually as a farmer or a janitor. Those who have better grades and health will go to study. The most cherished dream for many is to go to school. Then there is a chance to get a better paying job. During the past month we have been talking about
facing insults and being offended. Many children after graduation are faced with the fact that they are often being offended, and when they do not immediately succeed in what they do, bullying begins. We talked about how to forgive, how to cope with inner pain.
who graduated a few years ago. Nastya worked on the farm, looked after the calves. But then one calf died and Nastya was made guilty. People, who gossiped about her, gathered, and then accused her of negligence. After all, she is an orphan, which means that she is to blame! After all, no one will stand up for the orphan, which means that you can do anything you want to! And such
examples help to see how gossips are destructive in the lives of graduates. After all, in a boarding school among children it looks like a prank, but in real life it brings pain and suffering to the person. Also, another topic that we decided to raise is obscene words. Because of the wrong example, children allow obscenities into their lives. And then they wonder why there are so many problems in their life. After all, our words attract either success from God, or destruction. There were a lot of questions about how to restrain yourself from using swear words? “After all, a swear word is a reaction to pain or resentment,” the guys told us! Then we started saying that we sometimes can also experience pain, but our reaction is in our hands!
We prayed that God would send freedom from bad words and give wisdom and strength when you are in difficult circumstances and a person provokes you. This school year was just incredible! There were all sorts of things, including the temporary closure of boarding schools due to the pandemic. The first visit to the children after the temporary quarantine was full of joy, laughter, hugs! And also the words that were especially memorable: “We don’t need gifts, we need you! We miss you very much”! All this suggests that we are like one family, which strives to raise, not lower a member of its family.
The school year in Belarus is over.
That was a special year when we could see the joy of seeing each other after the long quarantine as well as temporary separation. After this time of being apart we have noticed the transformation in our values. We used to have such a time when all the children were not allowed to attend our meetings but now after the quarantine, we feel the difference. We are so glad that around 60-70 children constantly attend our meetings. It brings us great joy. The first thoughts that I had were about the little children with Down syndrome whether they would be able to understand that we told them about God. After a while we realized that they understand everything. It is surprising that when we come and ask what we talked about last time they are eager to raise their hands and share in their language what theyremember.
we talked
about betrayal and pain that they got after being left. We mentioned that it was impossible not to think about it. We have to deal with any betrayal and eventually overcome it because the pain that overflows us can destroy our present life. There is only one way out. It is forgiveness that can bring us freedom from betrayal.
of forgiveness and love which only God can give. God changes their hearts so the children become more reserved.
teenagers are graduating this year. They come to our meetings. We see that they are worried, many of them cry because the school was their home but now, they feel uncertain. Vadim says that if he was allowed to stay at the orphanage he would stay there. Vadim is going to the old people’s home. Igor came up to us very upset. We asked him what happened. He said he was going to the nursing home. He says ‘Dima I was dreaming to leave this place but now I am really afraid’. Igor’s mother left him. She promised him to take him back
for so many times but he ended up at the orphanage. Only 6 teenagers are going to colleges to get the education and become wall painters, gardeners or tailors. Thinking about orphans we see that they need a relevant person in their lives and I am glad that we can be such people who set an example for them. We are happy to pray together with them and talk about God. We see that they grow in their faith. We are praising God that we are in the place where he wants us to be.
Bible lessons on following the
example of the life of Daniel and his friends. Telling this story, we tried to draw the attention of the children to the fact that Daniel has also lost his family and ended up in slavery, and moreover in another country, he went through a lot of pain and suffering. The children were surprised by the courage of these young men and their complete trust in God in such difficult circumstances. Diana, 16 years old, was worried about how to get better and choose the right path, despite the fact that her parents
left her and there was no one to help. Listening to the story where Daniel spent time in communion with God 3 times a day praying she realized that she also needed this time with God, as well as reading the Bible and learning more about the truth. She consults with the girls in our team and listens to the advice. We see a good change in her life and want to help her get into college this year. We believe that everything is possible through God! Last Tuesday, 5 children from the same family found out that their dad had collected all the necessary documents and was taking them home. Together we rejoiced and thanked the Lord for the answer that the family would be restored and the children won’t become orphans! We agreed that we would come to visit them if their father gave his permission. Big thanks to everyone for your prayers, we see our prayers answered and give glory to the Father of all orphans!!!
Every year May delights people with bright, sunny weather, reviving and blooming nature and the sonorous singing of birds returning from the south. Usually, at this time of the year, children break out into the street and it is already much more difficult to gather them in the premises for any events. But this year, it rains almost all May in our country. Therefore, all our beloved guys
come to our meetings and together with them we try to create a joyful and friendly atmosphere, support each other and learn to notice all the good that is in the life of each person. The older guys started to prepare for their final exams. Most of them share their experiences and thoughts about what awaits them after graduation, when they will be faced with an adult, independent life.
This topic is especially familiar to children living in boarding schools. It is very difficult for them, at times, to manage their emotions, and besides, from the very childhood they are deprived of affection and care from the dearest people and simply are not taught how to behave in emotionally difficult situations. Katya did not just talk about what “anger” is and
what consequences it leads to, she gave a lot of practical advice on how to cope with anger and guided the children to solve this problem together with God, who can change a person’s heart and give consolation and peace. At the end of the conversation, a girl named Vika shared that she often faces the problem of anger and causes a lot of pain for herself and other people. Vika came forward and asked to pray that God would release her and help her change. Of course, we all supported
Vicka’s decision and prayed with her. It seems to me that this is a vivid example of how the word of God works in children’s hearts.
