In December: ”Belinichy orphanage”

Posted: December 30, 2015 by Dobr9k in Belinichy

vetkaThis December we didn’t have a lot of trips to the orphanage in Belinichy. It was because the IMG_4115director of the orphanage died. Both kids and the personnel of the orphanage need time to overcome this loss and the administrative personnel asked us toIMG_4240 reduce on our visits. But nevertheless, we managed to teach some lessons. Senior kids had lessons dedicated to anger and greediness. We also ran some sport activities and a lot of kids came to the event. Sometimes we can see orphans compete and even being hostile to each other as they want to be the best. Our volunteers are encouraged to play with orphans in order to teach them the importance of unity and team. At the end of sport activities all participants got sweet presents. OrphansIMG_4188 adore them.
Junior orphans had a different plan. TheyIMG_4253 focused on studying Bible stories from New Testament. This month they learnt a story about how Christ calmed a storm and a story about the lost sheep. Orphans understood there is nothing impossible for God and even nature obeys God. Another idea we tried to underline is that each person matters for God. Orphans had a chance to watch a cartoon about the King Solomon and from this cartoons kids could learn that sense and wisdom come from God.
This December was quite rainy and dull. We were so glad to see the orphanage building all decorated and bright, with a Christmas tree. Our great dIMG_4271esire is that orphans could understand not only the beIMG_4245auty of Christmas decorations but also the meaning of Christmas. We sang Christmas Christian songs and played games that refer to the topic of Christmas. At the beginning of January we are going to make a Christmas performance for kids and give presents. We ask you to pray for making our plan come true and so that the whole performance was clear to orphans as they have some mental and physical disabilities.

In December: “Rudensk orphanage”

Posted: December 30, 2015 by Dobr9k in Rudensk

vetkaThe last month of the year is coming to the end. It is ending on a joyful note because together with children we are rejoicinIMG_4230g to the coming Christmas and New Year! Each our meeting was dedicated to the different subjects but at the same time from the beginning of the monIMG_4032th together with children we sang Christmas songs, played games with a motif of Christmas and continually reminded kids about Christmas.
At the beginning of the next month we are planning to organize Christmas play at the Rudensk orphanage after which children are going to receive their long awaited gifts. But now I would like to tell about our trips that we had in December.
We started December from “stag-parties” and “hen-parties” – the most favorite form of our meetings with the children of Rudensk orphanage. At the stag-party boys from our team talked with boys-teenagers IMG_4025on the very complex but at the same time very current for teenagers subject – “Pornography”. The team has been deciding for a long time if we should have a meeting on this subject but after long prayers God has blessed us: teenagers happened to be quite open to IMG_4035discussion and the meeting was quite serious. We were able to explain to boys how strongly the pornography clogs mind and heart of a man and to what consequences it leads. But most importantly we were able to show how abominable it is in the eyes of God!
At the same time the girls on their “hen-party” decided to do cookery! At the beginning of the meeting girls from our team explain about hygiene rules that they have to uphold during cooking. After that the girls were divided into several teams and each team was making a fruit IMG_4028salad. At the time of cooking we realize that some girls do not understand what it means to “cut banana in halves” or “divide orange into lobules”. In these cases we patiently showed and explained how to do it right because we understand that at some point these girls will go into adult life and this kind of knowledge would definitely be very useful to them! After the cooking the girls prayed and thank God for the abundance on the tIMG_4237able. And after prayer they could eat fruit salads that they have prepared by themselves.
The next meetings were dedicated to the subjects “Anger” and “Greed”. To unwrap the subject of “Anger”, Zhenya pointed out three main moments: 1 – who is getting angry (a fool), 2 – to what it leads (quarrel) and 3 – what to do with anger (forgive, because God fIMG_4226orgives us). The subject of “Greed” explained Dima. He tried to show to kids that God calls people not to be greedy but quite the opposite – to be generous, to care for the neighbours and to be satisfied with what we have.
During another our trip we conducted sport relays. It was a good opportunity to have fun and to strengthen children’ and our health, while at the same time to show children the importance of unity inside of a team and to learn to accept not just victories but losses too.

In November: “Vileyka orphanage”

11514853Praise God for such a possibility to go to Vileyka’s orphanage and spend time with childrenE8roZTyFFtw there. Praise God for every child there, for their smiles. These children need love, communication and care. We want those who are deprived of parents to know that they have Our Heavenly Father Who loves and cares for them. We want them to know that they have God to entrust their grief and problems. We want them to remember that they have God to come to with all the questions they have.
We work with junior children from the 2nd and 3d forms. Everybody has its own talent to develUEvUcRBKHoQop. On our classes children find out a lot of new things about God. They usually haveJmzPyDBjZno many questions about how God answers the prayers. We tell them biblical stories and on these examples show that God is always true and permanent. He cares for us and helps. What children like most of all is to sing songs, play games and draw. We learn biblical verses by heart and believe that God will keep them in their hearts.

In November: “Rudensk orphanage”

11514853Coming of new children and teenagers to the Bible lessons has become the most joyful event at Rudensk school! Earlier they used to come to get presents, to watch a performance, to play games but they didn’t take any interest in the things we teach. This month they were with us each Wednesday. We are graIMG_3900teful to God for that!
According to the opinion of the youIMG_3971th, we understood that they enjoy gathering in groups, when girls are separated from boys. That’s why we try to arrange such meetings once a month. We continued to discuss the topic ‘Cohabitation’ with the girls, which was raised last month. This topic is very acute in our country. Nastya dispelled all the wrong views of this problem providing the examples from the Bible and statistical data. The atmosphere was warm during the lesson and everyone could open the heart and share their troubling thoughts. Generally, they are afraid of being alone, afraid of loneliness. That’s the main reason for them to look for a person to live with soon after they leave the orphanage. I believe that we managed to tell them about the love of GIMG_3995od and remind them that He is always near and they aren’t alone.IMG_3968
Evgeny raised an actual topic, too, he spoke about laziness. Not being obtrusive, with the help of a slide-presentation and leading questions he was able to explain the children of different age groups what laziness is and how to get rid of it. Many chilpren admitted that they are often lazy and don’t want to work because of various reasons.
This month Dima took the topic ‘Humor’. Taking the biblical example he showed the children that it is normal to have fun and joke, but there shouldn’t be those who are offended and humiliated and surely there shouldn’t be the mIMG_3892oments that upset God.
IMG_3910We watched the cartoon devoted to the topics ‘faithfulness to God’ and ‘faithfulness in friendship’ at two other meetings.
During this month we tried to find time and meet with graduates of Rudensk orphanage. We invited Nastya on a weekend. Her village is nearly one hundred kilometers from Minsk. She has strong faith and attends the church in Stolbcy. We try to help her to live outside school walls, be friends to her, and continue to tell her the truth. Nastya is an encouragement for us! We are pleased to see how her life has been changing in a better way!

In November: “Smilovichi orphanage”

11514853All praise to God for each new day and for this new month we had! This month as usually we were able to visit the orphans in Smilovichy. The orphans are constantly changing there. But each time we come to visit them, we meet new orphans there who got there recently and they are open and they trust us from the very first day they met us. They tell us the story of how they got into the orphanage, how they sIMG_3958tudy there, tell about their new friends they made in the orphanage and they also complain about those who treat them bad. image-052662e5191fd11b68144bab3ecec698f438df4a7f5ec439fe3d180cc50f1f65-VAnyway, they try to be friendly to each other even though it can be difficult sometimes.
Every time we come to the orphanage our hearts are full of joy as we see these kids, their love to us and as we see how they wait to see us. This month we continued introducing orphans with some new Bible stories of the New Testament. Kids are already familiar with such Bible stories as “Jesus healing a woman who had suffered from her disease for 12 years”, “Jesus raising a dead Jairus’s daughter”,
“Jesus having fed 5000 people“, “the Good Samaritan”.
At the end of each lesson we asked questions and we were glad to see how enthusiastic the orphans were to answer them correimage-22ef2343b763623b42f42795a857b8492c79126810effcc48a644f5d904578cc-Vctly, to do tasks, to play together with us. One of our lessons was dedicated to crafts. IMG_3961We called it “Each orphan has a talent”. And indeed, every kid is talented and a lesson in crafts gives a good chance to reveal these talents and develop them. Kids could decorate glasses for pencils and use them later for their school needs. Sasha, Alina, Diana were with us for the last time. Their parents were able to finish the repair works in the house, to pay debts for utilities and the social work supervisors allowed kids back home. So, Sasha and Alina were returned back to their family and Diana to her family. It was a good example and a reminder of God’s faithfulness to answer the prayers of orphans. At the end of our lessons kids said prayers together with us. IMG_3953The most common prayers were about asking for good health and coming back to their families. We praise IMG_3964God that He knows our needs and the three orphans have been brought back home. Let’s hope the seed that was sewed in their hearts will bear fruit one day.
Now there are 2 more orphans left in the orphanage – Artyom and Nikita. Nikita is very young, he doesn’t go to school yet. He needs some prayer support and it’s difficult for him to get used to the orphanage as he often gets ill. Artyom is very open, cheerful and obedient. He keeps on praying and asking God to come back home as soon as possible. He’s looking forward to court decision on his case to know if he could be returned back to the family.
