Here comes an end to the first Spring month, But the truth is it hasn’t felt like spring yet because it’s still cold, It feels like autumn. But even during these cold days we can visit our beloved children. This month we had a lot of interesting things happening, we have had the following bible lessons “Wise king Solomon”, “Healing of Naaman”, “Daniel and his friends”. At the moment there are 12 kids at the children’s home of different ages.
Despite the fact that it’s not so many of them there comparing to the orphanages we visit, we have to work hard while preparing for each meeting because we want it to be interesting for the older kids and the younger ones! Most of all I am impressed when it comes to the one on one talks with the kids because each one of them has their own story.
Of course we spend a lot of time playing with them, doing creative things, learning and singing together some happy songs. But it’s in the conversations that those kids open up more than anything. Because kids in the children’s home are constantly changing we don’t always have a possibility to give them as much time as we would like to.
So because of that sometimes we just want to come and give them an opportunity to talk, tell us how they got to the children’s home, tell us about the way things are at school, how they meet new people and build relationships with fellow kids at school.
Of course when we have a chance we try to introduce them to God who gives meaning to our lives and gives us strength to forgive. They expect some advice from us, support and even our opinion on when it comes to them doing the right or the wrong thing in different situations. It makes us happy that these kids don’t just listen to us but they are trying to do good, they are trying not to offend each other and listen to their teachers. Yes, it doesn’t always work to be obedient, they are not always in good relationships with each other. But their whole life is still ahead of them. Our dream is that their lives will be filled with meaning, that the pain that they experienced in their childhood will die down as soon as possible and that they will never make mistakes that their parents have made! We believe that God can do it!

Hello everybody!
We continue visiting Rudensky boarding school.
For a long time, in the boarding school, we hold meetings with one of the younger groups and with older guys. For the younger group we conduct engaging lessons with the stories of the
Old Testament using lots of illustrations. This month, we told and showed the lessons of the tower of Babel, told about Abraham , Lot and his family, and about the situation in the desert with Ishmael and Hagar. We are glad that they are able to analyze on their children level, they do remember the lessons and do practical conclusions. At the end of lesson we often ask questions to consolidate the material, and they answer questions in simple words.
With the seniors group we spoke on a few topics. One of the topics was about sin. Guys always carefully listen to the stories of real people and their examples. We showed examples from the lives of graduates, the consequences of wrong decisions and sin. Unwanted pregnancy is a waste of money, poor health, suicide. Such examples allow children to understand the importance of proper life, the life without sin. At the meeting, which was devoted to the international women’s day, we told the children about the origins of this holiday and talked to them about how important it is to appreciate our beautiful ladies.
One evening, we talked with the guys, on the subject of correcting their mistakes. All the people often make mistakes, and they need to fix it. And the example of the prodigal son, we looked at how to behave when an error has already been committed, but not yet fixed.
Once we held relay races, where all tasks were carried out with bananas. It was a very fun time when guys could just relax and enjoy the fellowship with us in the form of a game. And, of course, to eat delicious bananas.
At the last meeting of the month we had a bachelor party and a bachelorette party. We talked with the guys about the ability to manage your money. Some of the guys who come to us, after a few months will graduate, and they will have to cope with their problems, including financial. How to prevent financial collapse and earn money – these are the questions we discussed with the guys. We are glad that we have the ability to communicate with children, to teach them something useful and tell them about God.
The ministry in Belynichi orphan school helps us to see how great our God is and be sure that the Bible is accessible to everyone! We have shared for many times that this orphan school is for kids who have mental and physical disabilities but it doesn’t prevent them from knowing God. It’s true that sometimes we have to make a lot of efforts to explain in a simple and understandable way some topic to the teenagers or a bible story to the smaller ones. But these efforts bring good fruit!
All the glory is to God for this!
This March was exemplary in the way that we once again saw that diagnoses, the children’s age and their life stories are not hindrances to their knowing of God. It’s nice to hear how the children recall and tell us what they heard at the previous meeting a week ago! The older ones discussed such topics as ‘The importance of obedience’, ‘Sin and its consequences’, ‘Correction of mistakes’, ‘Following the crowd’. We wish so much that the children will realize how it is important to be obedient, to know how to control their behavior, respect their teachers who take care of them as the Bible teaches this. Sin is the problem urgent for everyone. We wanted to explain the children that each sin leads to sad consequences. But there is always a way out in repentance and forgiveness! And eventually the theme ‘Following the crowd’! Teenagers often live according to the motto: ‘I live the same as others live’. But more and more often this principle becomes destroying especially if we take orphans who are often influenced by people. This month this topic was very urgent! On March 13 we got very sad news. The graduate of Belynichi orphan school Dima by name died in the resuscitation…
Dima was a lively, friendly and active boy. Our team remembers him looking neat, longing for being the first and always smiling. But 4 months ago he tried to commit suicide! Dima jumped out of the window from the fourth floor and got a lot of fractures, brain and spine injuries, then he lapsed into a coma and died… Dima’s motto was ‘Try everything in your life!!!’ It was what he talked a lot about at our last meeting. This young man really tried a lot of things. And his life ended so sadly.
A lot of thoughts were in my mind ‘Did we tell him everything that we had to?’, ‘Did we pay enough attention to him?’, ‘Our team and teachers from orphan school talked to him a lot, so how could this happen?’ We don’t know for sure what thoughts were in his head at that moment but I know one thing exactly – we must do our best to prevent other teenagers from making such decisions in spite of hardships in their lives! Dima’s death is one more challenge for us! Now we continue our orphan ministry with even more eagerness and desire because we want to acquaint them with the living God who is able to heal all the wounds and give real freedom from sin!
Why do I go to the Vileysky orphanage? There are many answers, but there are two main reasons: I love God and I love people. The children who were left by parents in an orphanage and Children of God, all of us can meet in the orphanage. When I look in their faces I see pain, loneliness, fear. And because of it there is a strong wish to tell them about God who is always near us. The one who will not betray.
Sometimes we are just talking to children about their lives.
My group is not the oldest one, but they have very deep eyes. Christ has told that for those there is a Kingdom. I want that they would know Him, and He will enter to lives of each child and become their Father. They have sometimes a bad behavior (almost every time), but when you take their hand – you forgive all. Sometimes I even don’t know: who needs more this trips – they or me. We are changing together, together we learn about God, together we grow in some way. I know that they don’t remember a lot of things. However, I believe that what we have seeded will bear a fruit. There is only one truth: the word is a Christ. And He has risen.
I am always glad to be in this orphanage and I am glad for those children who are going with us. Perhaps, it is hardly noticeable ministry for all, but I believe that the sky smiles when we go to Vileyka. I understand that the great King is always with us and if He is with us, then all the rest isn’t so important.
