Greetings!
This month we have visited Belinichy orphanage three times. I would like to start with overview of our visits to this orphanage. Just a few months ago the hardest place for us to work was Belinichy orphanage. Sometimes after a visit to this orphanage we would return home with a feeling of being squeezed like a lemon. We have been praying for Belinichy orphanage for a long time. Every Monday our team has a meeting.
During these meetings we make the plans for our visits and pray for the needs of our ministry, needs of each other and needs of those who support us. During the last several months we made Belinichy orphanage a priority. Specifically we have been praying for the administration of the orphanage and for the children. Probably in every orphanage of our ministry there upswing and downswings but most of all we felt it in Belinichy. We prayed, made analysis of our visits to Belinichy orphanage and discussed what we can change.
And now, recently God has blessed our ministry and gave us ability to visit Belinichy orphanage more often. Thus it helped us to become closer to the children and talked more to them about God. We thank everyone who sacrificed their time and resources! And especially we thank those who in the gap have been praying for our ministry!
The situation has changes very much, the doors of the orphanage have been opened for us – God has heard our prayers! But most of all we are joyful that we can see how the children are changing before our eyes!
This month we have talked with children about sin. We have talked that everyone is a sinner but there is a solution. This solution is Jesus Christ. That it is Him Who gave salvation to people. In our opinion children’s behavior is changing because in the topic of sin we discussed that intentionally or not but it is always a person who commits a sin. We have taught about patience and self-control so we would protect children from sin.
We are happy to notice that the children have stopped to mock each other, less they ridicule somebody else’s limitations. Those are the steps we see in the change of their hearts. In one of our meetings we have showed a cartoon based on Max Lucado story “Green nose”. Many children want to look like those who show not the right example and through this cartoon we have showed what is going to be the result.
We are planning a June a summer camp for the children from this orphanage. Even right now we are praying that God would move! We come for a visit and leave but when we leave the orphanage we always pray that God will save and grow the seed that we have been planting there during the last several years.
We observed following moments at the children’s home in Grozovo during the last few weeks. The happiest moment for me is when a kid is running to you and shouts: “Sasha, I’m being taken to family!” I sincerely rejoice, when a kid has a chance to start a new life. I just hope that families they are going to will be able to accept these kids for who they are and to love them. And it is sad, when kids who are left without relatives say:
“But I’m glad I’ll go to another children’s home”. They say that not because of bad conditions here (it is better for some kids to live at the children’s home, then at their own home), but the say that to comfort themselves. These very minutes are the worst minutes for me! When you teach, play games, watch video, which encourages kids, you begin to understand that all these seeds we plant will grow and give fruit.
Today we try our best not just to support these kids and to be mentors for them, but as well we’re looking for families for them. We’d like to reach many Christian families to share our vision with them! For the last 2 months, we’ve made several presentations about adoption of orphan in 5 churches. We especially emphasized on Grozovo children’s home, as it will be closed in 2 months.
Children are on spring holidays now. A few of them will spend their holidays at new families, but most of them will stay at the children’s home. We hope we’ll be able to bring them some joy during our meetings.
Every image given in the Bible is an example through which God wants to teach us something. Reading the story of Deborah again and again, I saw her passionate desire to fulfil God’s will, to be obedient in everything no matter how hard it would be. And as a result the Lord changed the life of the whole nation.
That’s impressive! We pray and dream about Belarus without orphans, the country where every child has his father and mother. We pray that kids’ lives will be changed by the power of the Holy Spirit.
The beginning of spring in Rudensk was very active for us. The children took part in sport activities. Everyone wanted to win. So we noticed that some kids were happy and some were disappointed when they lost.
But it turned out to be an opportunity to tell them what we should do when we lose or meet any difficulties in life.
As we expected, there were more meetings for the girls and boys in Rudensk. We were talking with the girls about love and being in love and the difference between it. We also discussed how they should behave when they are on dates. There was one meeting called “Diets”. Together we tried to find out how to choose a healthy diet that won’t do any harm to the girls.
At the same time the boys have been taught how to manage their money and how to take life seriously.
There was a meeting for the boys where we talked about shaving. For many of them it was a little bit embarrassing. But we try not only to teach them moral values, but also to give them some practical advice for their life. Unfortunately, orphans don’t know the usual things that are ordinary for the children in families.
We had a meeting called “Life without boundaries” where we showed the video about Nick Vujicic, a man without arms and legs, but full of love to God. Kids could see the difficulties Nick had to go through, so that now he could speak with people telling them that they are beautiful and loved by God.
We tried our best to show children that we are not able to change our past, but we can change our future.
Hello my friends! We glad to have such an early spring here! As a result we have some changes in our lives and ministry. With the arrival of spring everybody goes outdoors to walk, to fish, to exercise at stadiums and our guys are not the exceptions.
The problem is that our friends stopped coming to our lessons because they wanted to spend their time outdoors. To tell the truth, they wanted to be with us and to communicate but a long-awaited spring has won.
So we consulted about it and decided to go to their territory and communicate individually with them in the places they wanted to be. Such conditions helped us to gain confidence of children and it opened their hearts for our words about Jesus. We raised such topics as “why do we go to church?”, “why do we read the Bible?”,
“Life is not a game – we should have a serious attitude to it” and talked about many different questions.
Guys spoke actively and we were happy that they are not indifferent. This is the right time when we can build the basis of the Christian life in their minds hoping them to use this knowledge outside the orphanage. Especially it applies to graduates as they have to make a step into their own independent lives soon. We pray for our graduates to have enough efforts and confidence and also to be blessed by God in their choice concerning education and their future profession. We thank you for your support and ask you to join us in our prayers for graduates of the orphanages.
Hello, my dear friends!
The beautiful spring time has come. I’m very glad we have an opportunity to visit orphanages in any time of the year.
In the orphanage in Smilovichi I’ve got many friends. There are children of different ages. Whether it is a teenager or a little child, they all are always looking forward to us. This month we’ve played, communicated, learned new topics, watched cartoons with them. A lot of children hardly know about God, but they really enjoy what we tell them. Most of all they like craftwork and drawing pictures on particular biblical themes. They always do their best to do all the tasks, answer the questions with joy and sometimes even ask their own questions. The characters of children are different. Some of them know us not so well, but gradually they begin to trust us more and more.
They tell us what is going on in their lives and about their studies.
Many of them share with us how they miss home, parents and friends, tell us about their fear of the unknown. During the main biblical lesson a part of our team separates in order to talk with those who are unsociable, often cry and hardly communicate. For such children we apply face-to-face communication which helps them to open up. And we should pray and believe that these children will open their hearts not only to us, but also to God!
