Hello! I love when the mood is well, when the answers of God on praying are seen and there is a possibility to say:
“ Thank You God, that You hear our praying, answer on
time and bless abundantly!” Serving in Rudensk orphanage is a special experience and memories. The time that we spend with the children, opens a lot of their pain, complexes, resentments, frustrations and unforgiveness. What can we do? Shall we just close our eyes and move on? We can do it, but children won’t learn how to love, trust, to accept themselves and the others. But, how to deal with the pain, which constantly reminds about itself? There are many children i
n this orphanage who where badly injured by some adults. I want to tell you about one girl from this orph
anage. Her name is Sveta. She is haircut like a boy, her behavior is also boyish. To attract attention of other people, she often puts up a fight and humiliate children who are weaker than she is. All this is the outward manifestation of her inner anxiety and wounds that remain in her heart since childhood. Of course, it is difficult for her to trust people, especially to adults. Who can help her? Yet, there are many children like Sveta. From the very childhood parents took care of us, but children like Sveta didn’t have any parent. Government may provide orphans with accommodation, food, clothing, educational opportunities, but the internal pain and mistrust to everything around, often leads to alcohol and drug
addictions, prison and even suicide. That is why our main goal is to teach these children about the love and forgiveness which God Himself manifests in relation to pe
ople. This month, we spoke on the theme: “Bitterness of grievances.” We talked about what it takes to make a decision to forgive and to let go of the offenders because the offense firstly destroys us from within. It is very important for them to forgive their parents, friends and teachers. Old bitterness of grievances should leave, and in its place comes forgiveness, healing of internal wounds and joy! In addition, this month we talked on topics such as: “The relations of friendship”, “Forgiveness,” “Loneliness in the crowd.” We believe that all these topics were not in vain, so please pray that more children could get free from their own unforgiveness and failure.

This month was dedicated to “Prayer” and the major topics of our Bible studies at the
orphanage in Belynichy were about it. We told the kids what a prayer is, we explained that God doesn’t always answer all the prayers right away and God not always answers the prayers the way we like or expect.
We read the stories from the Bible that told about a prayer and showed the example of how to pray. We discussed it more with the senior orphans.
Nevertheless, the part of the team went to see junior orphans. This month they got to know the story of Abraham and the Tower of Babel. But the orphans not only listened to this story. They had a chance to do crafts – for instance angels made of paper.
This month the members of the team had a talk with some orphans. We established good relationships with the orphans after the winter camp this year. In order to know how they are doing,
to know about their moments of joy and sorrow we need to have strong close relationship with them. One of the orphans – Sergey – had a chance to keep on learning
how to play the guitar and communicated a lot with his guitar teacher who he got acquainted with at the winter camp.
Winter camp was a great blessing both for the orphans and for the team. Orphans hearts got more open and attentive to God’s Word. And it encourages us as a team a lot! I give thanks to all who are interested in orphans’ lives.
The shortest and the richest with activities month of serving in Vileyka. We’ve got nice memories of the last month of the winter,
it wasn’t so rough and we could visit Vileyka boarding school without problems. I’d like to notice, that with every time we come to the school we feel we become closer to each other, they learn to trust us telling us their stories, about their parents, their problems, and they ask us to pray for them. It’s very important for me that they become more open, don’t keep inside what worries them and they are not that much aggressive anymore. I want to do more for them, and as I’ve got an experience in working with boarding schools, I can say that the best way to get closer to children and to share love and care with them is to organize a camp.
That’s why we are praying for this opportunity for this summer.
This month we had different trips. On the first visit we had a theme “Jesus, who we don’t know”, that Jesus is a creator of each of us, and each of us is special and unique, and as our Creator, He wants to be closer to us and to help us. We told them that they are not alone, that they’ve got God and He cares about them, even though they are in an orphanage. On our second visit, we invited to come with us a puppet show with a play called “Friendship”. You should know about this play form our previous reports from other orphanages. On our third visit, we invited Christian Youth Evangelical theatre. They showed a play about the Father who had three children with different talents.
He is giving them their part of legacy and leaves them in hope that they will wisely use what they’ve got.
So, their independent lives begin: the life of an engineer, inventor of medicines and a musician. We see the life of each of them and how the evil one comes and wants to lead them in the wrong direction. Only Fathers words (Scriptures from the Bible) helped the engineer and the inventor of medicines to withstand and not to be tempted, and the musician could not resist and fell for temptation, he enjoyed his sins and the fame and popularity that he got. It all led to the emptiness of his soul and he disowned his Father. It was a vivid example of what we usually have our talents and skills and how we use them. Children enjoyed it a lot. I can be sure that they learnt from this lesson. On our last trip, we watched one the best movies in my opinion – called Courageous.
It’s a great movie for men. It happened that the mentors at that day were men, and some children were whispering to me that those men were crying. I was happy to hear because this film could change those mature men and how they treat orphans, and most of all it and change their attitude to God. Everyone liked that movie, perhaps because of the hope that children saw. The hope that in future their lives can be different from their parents’ lives. This movie was for older children. Small kids had time with two girls from the church, they were talking with children about God, so that those small kids would understand it.
We thank God for another month of serving Him.
Although February is a short month but for us and for children from Rudensk orphanage this month was very intensive and diverse.
One of our meetings we dedicated to the subject of Freedom. In it we tried to show children how wonderful when G
od Himself liberates us from sins. How wonderful it is that God helps people to b
e liberated even from the worst addictions like alcohol and drugs!
We already told you that in each orphanage there is its beloved and unique format for our meetings. In Rudensk orphanage children love “stag parties” and “hen-parties”. This is the time when boys and girls meet separately. This month for boys we had meetings with subjects “The heart of the father” and “Develop yourself”. At “The heart of the father” meeting we told teenag
ers that in the future they are going to be fathers. Boys found what Bible teaches on the subject of who is a genuine father and wh
at should one do to become a genuine father. Most prominent example of a loving father is God Himself. That evening many boys told their stories about what that had to go through in their childhood. Most of them did not have a father or a negative example of a father when a father beat his children and their mother, drank alcohol and did not bring any money to live on to home. But the boys from our team tried
to encourage the boys and show them that they have a chance to live a different life that God offers. At the lesson “Develop yourself” we talked about abilities and talents that God has given to each man. But it is important to develop these abilities to be able to achieve something. And The Word of God always calls us to actions, not to lazine
ss and indifference!
While the boys had their parties the girls at their first hen-party learned that God has put a certain meaning even in the name of every person. Moreover the girl heard one more time that God loves their look, their name, and first of all sees the good in them. At the second meeting with girls we had a tea party. The subject of the lesson was “Inner beauty”. At this meeting we
learned to see in ourselves positive qualities but also to admit our shortcomings. Atmosphere at that meeting was extra special. Some girls came to the meeting without a good mood, one girl was even weeping and several best friends had a quarrel. But God has blessed the meeting so much so at the end of the meeting the girls started to talk openly not being afraid to be embarrassed before us or other girls about their shortcomings and what they would like t
o change in themselves. But what is most important most of the girls prayed that evening and even in their prayers they admitted their shortcomings and asked God to change their
hearts. It was especially impressive that at the end of the meeting the girls were leaving with joyful faces even the one who came to the meeting with tears. And the best friends who had a quarrel admitted their faults before each other and made up! Glory to God!
To introduce more variety at one of our meetings we organized sports relay with balloons. It was a very good time not just because it is funny and joyful time but also because it is an opportunity to unite children with each other. Not just winners but the ones who lost got sweet prizes that evening. Most of all we were joyful that winners did not exalt themselves before the ones who lost and were not upset that both teams got prizes! We glorify God for these blessed times!
This month the children waited for us, as usual, with impatience and joy. They were very happy to see us; they shared their
worries with us and didn’t want us to leave. Everyone was eager to communicate with us as much as possible.
There have become more children in the orphanage; a few of them appeared there not long ago. There are more boys at our meetings now.
As it was earlier, we discussed a lot of different biblical topics, played and talked. One day was especially remarkable. We divided into a few small groups and just talked with them, learned their life stories and prayed at the end. That day some of the children prayed for the first time. The children were so open that told us how they got at the orphanage. They were happy glad that they had, at least, someone with whom they could share their worries, thoughts and dreams. We knew more about the things they like and dislike and what they would like to have most of al
l. It was a wonderful day! Besides, we spoke about sin with the children. They wrote different sins they commit
but want to be free from them on paper hearts. The essence of the topic was to show the children that all people sin, but only God can free them from sin. It was nice to see that the children filled these hearts sincerely. Beside the illustration with the hearts, our team made a theatrical performance where the characters showed that it is simple and easy to sin but it is hard to cope with the sins without God. Thanks to God for this time and for the opportunities for the children to hear about God more and more! We also watched a kind Christian cartoon about the gift that told the children about the gift that Jesus gave to all the people.
The make-up of the children changes quite often in this orphanage. Someone comes back home, someone is taken to a foster fa
mily. But it doesn’t matter because they soon begin to be open and trust us little by little. At the present time the children, who are there, like singing. So, during this month we learned three new songs. The guitar appeals to them much because there are mostly boys there. The boys from our team try to teach them a little how to play the guitar. And we are glad to support them in this with our prayers. And, of course, even if you just embrace them you feel their warmth and response towards us.
